Abstract
Objective: Investigate the oral health status of Syrian refugees and associated socio-behavioral factors due to limited existing data. Design: Cross-sectional study at Zaatari camp, Jordan in 2019. Methods: Oral examinations of 505 refugees (18-60 years) using WHO criteria. Results: High caries prevalence (96.0%) with significant untreated lesions, mean DMFT of 10.19, and poor oral hygiene. Pain was a common complaint, and smoking rates were high. Education level correlated with oral health, and females exhibited better hygiene practices. Conclusion: Syrian refugees face significant oral health challenges, necessitating preventive programs and targeted interventions to alleviate disease burden and improve oral health practices in this vulnerable population.
