This research explored the awareness, usage and perspectives of researchers towards Open Access as a mode of scholarly communication in Al- Balqa Applied University in in Jordan. A survey questionnaire targeted 84 respondents selected through stratified random sampling from a population of 117 researchers in humanities and social sciences in the institution. There was a response rate of 71.7%; the data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 20). The study revealed that the majority of the participants were very positive about Open Access, as evidenced in all the attitude responses. However, the research found that OA has a positive impact in the researchers' perception; the results show a high level of awareness of how OA publishing is important as a tool for scholarly exchange. The researchers recommended that universities and libraries pay more attention to the importance of Open Access scholarly communication in their institutions
