Abstract
Angiotensin II type I receptor (AT1R) antagonists attenuating the renin - angiotensin system (RAS) are important antihypertensive agents that reduce hypertension and improve several metabolic conditions related to obesity, such as a decrease in insulin sensitivity. The paradoxical reaction to the AT1R antagonists from patients infected with Corona 2019 virus (COVID-19) is characterized by acute organ injuries or organ protection. The exact mechanism of the controversial reaction is still unclear. In order to disambiguate the vagueness, this review focuses on medical literatures including experimental and clinical researches, and discusses facts and theories which speculate the AT1R antagonist reactions to chronically mediated COVID-19 infected patients, answering the question on whether the AT1R antagonist usage should be continued or temporarily stopped in chronically mediated COVID-19 infected patients.
