Abstract
Purpose: To study oral hygiene habits, attitudes, and practices among refugees in Jordan and their impact on oral health. Methods: A cross-sectional study involved interviews and oral exams on 547 adult refugees. Results: Many brushed infrequently, while few flossed. Caries prevalence was high, especially among males and smokers. Missing teeth were linked to various factors including age and chronic diseases. DMFT was high in males, older individuals, smokers, and those with chronic diseases. Conclusion: Refugees exhibited poor oral hygiene and high caries rates, emphasizing the need for targeted oral health programs and collaborative efforts to improve oral health in this vulnerable population.
