Abstract
Surface temperatures of a PMB were measured for the first time by applying a less-intrusive LIP technique at coated surface points. LIP technique using Dy:YAG phosphors can be applied up to 1400°C. The studied PMB showed surface temperatures between 1100 and 1350 K measured by LIP which are in good agreement with results of an IR-camera and a model. The inaccuracy in the adapted IR was ± 2.7 % in the calibration and ± 5.3 % for the PMB measurements which are much smaller than that of infrared camera (± 10%) or thermocouples (which under predict the temperature about 150 K). Technique can be used for development and validation of simulation models for PMB combustion processes.
