Abstract
Laser-induced phosphorescence (LIP) technique is applied for surface temperature measurements in a porous media burner (PMB). An adapted intensity-ratio (IR) method is used for temperature determinations, showing more accurate measurements compared to thermocouple surface temperature measurements. The results were compared to values in literature using an infrared camera which provided a similar temperature range and distribution but much higher inaccuracies than those obtained in this study. Additionally, a good agreement with a numerical simulation in the literature was found predicting very similar surface temperatures of the combustion zone.
