Abstract
Challenges associated with conventional ocular drug delivery inspired formulation scientists to develop solid and fenestrated microneedles (MNs) as a minimally invasive method to overcome the ocular barriers and the limitations associated with intraocular injection. In this study, depot forming MNs have been investigated as minimally invasive ocular drug delivery systems. The MNs were fabricated using PVP K32-29, loaded with rhodamine B as a model small molecular weight compound and dexamethasone as a lipophilic drug.
